Pears, blue cheese and walnuts are a classic combination. You’re guaranteed to see versions of this salad on menus throughout fall and winter. No matter what type of pear or blue cheese you use, you can’t go wrong.
Heat pan over medium-low to medium heat. Spread the walnuts across the pan in an even layer. Shake the pan very frequently to prevent the nuts from burning. Toast for three to five minutes. Remove from heat.
Prepare balsamic vinaigrette. Set aside.
Remove tough outer leaves of the Bibb lettuce. Tear the remaining leaves and place in a large bowl.
Cut the pears in halve. Remove the seeds and then thinly slice. Add pear, walnuts and blue cheese to the lettuce. Dress the salad with the balsamic vinaigrette.
